Available Now - Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01!
In ten realistic career scenarios, Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01 delivers challenging 1970s and 1980s railroading on the western giant!
Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01, created by High Iron Simulations and available now, features diverse and challenging BN railroading from the 1970s through the early 1980s on the magnificent ex-Northern Pacific Train Simulator Classic Bozeman Pass route!
The sprawling Burlington Northern was created in 1970 through the merger of the famed “Hill Lines” – Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Burlington Route, and Spokane, Portland & Seattle – and now Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01 takes you to the formative years of the BN in ten realistic career scenarios!
With Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01, you will climb aboard and take the controls of no less than eight types of Burlington Northern Electro-Motive and General Electric diesels to handle heavy tonnage, priority intermodal traffic, locals, and switching duties.
The railroad across Bozeman Pass was part of Northern Pacific’s main line between the Upper Midwest and Pacific Northwest. From Livingston, Montana, at an elevation of 4,484 feet, the line climbed westward on a 1.8 percent grade to its summit at 5,500 feet. The first Northern Pacific train crossed Bozeman Pass in January 1884, and today the line serves as a vital segment of the BNSF Railway.
With Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01, you will:
During the autumn grain rush, make a westbound end-to-end, Livingston to Trident (Montana) run across the Bozeman Pass route toting a heavy unit grain train with a stylish Burlington Northern EMD F45 on the point.
Climb aboard a veteran General Electric U25B and employ a pair of the landmark “U-Boats” to handle a local freight working on the Rocky Mountain Division’s Fourth Subdivision line toward Butte.
Experience the “rainbow years” of the Burlington Northern as the newly formed railroad calls upon diesels in the colorful liveries of its predecessor railroads and you work from the cab of an ex-Northern Pacific General Electric U25C.
As engineer of regional freight No. 196, handle set-out and pick-up work at Bozeman, then ascend the west slope of the pass with a lash-up of BN EMD GP30 and GP9 diesels.
With a quartet of then-new Burlington Northern EMD SD40-2 diesels as power, bring an eastbound empty grain movement down the wintry east slope of Bozeman Pass while making way for several higher-priority, heavy westbound movements.
Aboard a set of BN EMD GP38-2s and as engineer of regional freight No. 195, tackle set-out and pick-up work at the massive cement plant at Trident.
Handle yard and shop switching duties at the historic ex-Northern Pacific Livingston yard and shop complex at the throttle of a venerable BN Electro-Motive GP9.
In a two-part eastbound end-to-end run of the Bozeman Pass route, take charge of a trio of BN EMD SD45s and hot BN intermodal Train 4 as it detours from its usual ex-Great Northern route to hustle east on the ex-Northern Pacific main line.
Note: For full use, this scenario pack requires the Bozeman Pass Route (High Iron Simulations), BNSF Locomotive Pack Add-On (Dovetail Games, includes BN locomotives), and Burlington Northern U25 Pack (DTM). The ten new career scenarios of Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01, based closely on actual railroad operations and train symbols of the era, bring you the challenging and captivating experiences of railroading on one of America’s great railroads – and it’s available now at the Steam Store!
Now available, Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01 features BN railroading from the 1970s through the early 1980s on the magnificent ex-Northern Pacific Train Simulator Classic Bozeman Pass route. On BN’s always busy Rocky Mountain Division, east- and westbound freights powered by GE diesels wearing BN and predecessor liveries meet at Manhattan.
With Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01, you will climb aboard and take the controls of eight types of Burlington Northern Electro-Motive and General Electric diesels. In a two-part end-to-end run on the scenic Bozeman Pass route, Burlington Northern EMD F45 6600 is departing Livingston Yard with a heavy westbound unit grain train.
A pair of Burlington Northern General Electric U25B “U-Boats” are preparing to depart Logan with a Butte-bound local as a main line freight rolls past. With Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01, you will handle heavy tonnage, priority intermodal traffic, locals, and switching duties.
Created in 1970 through merger of the “Hill Lines,” the Burlington Northern Railroad was in its earliest days a rainbow of colors as the locomotives of the merged roads operated in original liveries. Powering BN manifest No. 24, General Electric U25C and U25B diesels wearing BN, Burlington Route, Northern Pacific, and Great Northern colors accelerate from Logan.
With pick-up and set-out work at Bozeman Yard completed, ex-Great Northern EMD GP30 2202 is on the point of BN regional freight No. 196 climbing the west slope of Bozeman Pass. The Burlington Northern inherited stylish GP30s from both Great Northern and Burlington Route.
In the early 1970s, Electro-Motive landmark SD40-2 was “new power.” On a winter day, a quartet of SD40-2s have just reached the rugged summit of Bozeman Pass and are about to enter the west portal of 3,015-foot Bozeman Tunnel.
At the massive Trident cement plant, regional freight No. 195 with a duo of EMD GP38-2s is making pick-ups and set-outs at the facility. Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01 features operations across the length of the acclaimed Train Simulator Classic Bozeman Pass route.
Livingston, at the eastern foot of Bozeman Pass, was the site of a major yard and shop facility – and a magnificent station – dating back to the Northern Pacific era. Burlington Northern EMD GP9 1713 is handling shop and yard switching chores as an eastbound grain train powered by EMD SD45s grinds past.
Three Burlington Northern EMD SD45s totaling 10,800 horsepower lead detouring BN intermodal Train No. 4 out of the east portal of Bozeman Tunnel. Burlington Northern Scenario Pack 01 brings you the challenging experiences of railroading on one of America’s great railroads – and it’s available now at the Steam Store!

[Fuente: New Scientist. Imagen: National Nuclear Security Administration @ Picryl.]
